BEWARE ==> BAD MOVERS <== WARNING

Movers who take advantage, lie, steal, threaten, cancel appointments, don't show and who perform so poorly shouldn't have the privelege of advertising on craigslist or calling themselves movers (SEE COMPLAINTS AT END OF THIS MESSAGE). They should be pointed out and eliminated. Just because someone has a van doesn't make them a mover either. This is a serious job with great responsibility. People depend on real movers to get the job done. Movers already have a bad name because of these losers. Everyone who wants moving services should get good service from movers who actually give a damn and take this job seriously!

-Movers who DO NOT list their phone numbers and/or email address.
One of the main reasons they don't is because they have been blocked by craigslist staff via their email and phone numbers. In order to get around this block they change their email addresses and don't list their phone numbers. Sometimes they will list their phone numbers as numbers and words in a clever scheme to bypass the block. So they are literally telling the craigslist community to f**k off. Be very careful dealing with these movers. Another way they avoid being blocked is by not listing a phone number but a web address instead. They are also inserting IMAGES of their ad or phone number to avoid being detected and bypass the block!

-Moving ads that DO NOT have a person's name listed should also be avoided.
These mover's like to use different names so as to not get caught and stopped from posting or screwing the community. In this way any complaints against them can't be traced because of the constant name changing.

Lotus Moving, who advertise on here as being 100% reliable, are 100% UNRELIABLE. I scheduled a move with them for 9:00 am ... at 10:30 when they still hadn't shown up (and had no understandable excuse), I had to cancel the move, and use someone else. THINK LONG and HARD before using this unprofessional company's services.

Hello, I thought I would share my experience with these guys. I hired them for a move, called "joe" in the phone and he said that he would send two guys at a rate of $70/hr. The men who arrived, akim and hasan, arrived late, and during the move broke or destroyed several pieces of my property including a TV, a desk, an armoir, broke a mirror, and many of our other possessions including expensive shoes etc which arrived cracked and badly bent due to how they packed their truck.

Not only this, but they allowed several of our items to fall down stairs so they broke, and then I could notice that at one of the guys was slacking off by taking very long periods of time without doing nothing at all while I and the other guy were sweating carrying stuff downstairs. When questioned about why this was happening, the answer is that they had the right to rest about 15 minutes of each hour and we were supposed to pay for that time as well.

Even with this absurd statement, seeing these one or the other of guys doing nothing other than talking in the cell phone or just sitting waiting for me to carry down stairs my own items, was infuriating, since I was paying nearly such a high amount for having a move where I was the only person who was seriously working, so I complained. there was no change at all. They spent a VERY long time carrying my items down and loading them, about double the amount of time that another moving guy had spent doing the same move. I was stunned at how slow these guys were.

Later on, when I requested some kind of reparation for all my broken items, the answer I got is that they would not give a penny off and that I still had to pay, or else get a very expensive insurance that had never been offered to me when I first hired these guys; I would have to pay $350 as the cost of insuring items that were worth exactly that amount, and therefore they told me that if I was not willing to shell out of my pocket other $350 at least, I could forget about having any of the items they broke, paid or repaired. the cost of my move with these guys was $460, when using other guy who was charging $40 per man, I had spent only half that amount just recently to do the same move.

the cost of my move with these guys, for a move that should have costed me at most $320, was of about $950 counting all my damages, add this to guys who work slacking off, wasting time to get more money off your pocket, etc. and assuming no responsibility at all for the items they broke (which makes them undesirable as movers because they WILL break your items and take no responsibility) makes these people one of the worst possible services I have ever had in my life. BEWARE of this company, joe, akim and hasan and stay away! there are other EXCELLENT movers out there who will take great care of your items and move your stuff fast!

We had confirmed arrangements for an early morning move and they called us 1/2 HOUR AFTER they were supposed to arrive saying they weren't going to make it and then tried to set us up with a higher priced move!!!! We dealt with Jenny who said the movers got a "ticket" and decided not to do the job. She then REFUSED to give us contact info for the owner and then claimed SHE was the manager. Scam? I think so. BIG MISTAKE!!!!

I recently mistakenly chose Lotus for an in-town move. They were 3 1/2 hrs. late and arrived without boxes though I'd requested a few to be brought. They scratched/broke several pictures and antiques because they didn't wrap them in blankets as their ad claims they will. Additionally, they were rude and even threatened to quit 1 1/2 hrs into my move because they were tired!!!

I was very clear with their manager that the move would entail hoisting furniture, and they claimed to not know any of the details and attempted to refuse to comply with the agreement. I am still unpacking, but have already found that I am missing one large item. I have never had such a horrible move. It should have been fairly simple, but they made a normally stressful situation an absolute nightmare.

Anyway, just thought I'd warn anyone searching for a mover. They are inexpensive, but they aren't worth the hassle!!

Actually, the price was not discounted at all. I received at least three other quotes with the same amount and chose RAPID RESPONSE because of their "excellent references." I did not complain the whole way. In fact, I didn't express any displeasure with the fact that they came three hours late and rather made a joke about it. My complaining along the way consisted of singing along with their music and telling them how much I liked some of it.

Regarding the stuff supposedly mailed, I haven't received anything overnight or otherwise, the post office has no record of the supposed delivery and told me I should have already received anything mailed even if it was sent by regular mail.

BTW, the term is Hasidic, not hesitic, you idiot. I'm not a "hesitic" Jew, I happen to be an agnostic, non-praciticing Jew and what the hell does my ethinicity have to do with anything?

This is in reference to a piece of furniture I had moved. Henry movers, who is the "reliable and careful mover" is not careful. I purchased a piece of furniture from a friend and had Henry and another person from his so called service move it. They did not use moving blankets or any kind of cushioning for the piece. The furniture was chipped, scratched, banged up and looks in poor condition due to these inadequate movers. If you want your belonging to get to you in one piece DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!!!! They were also rude and pissed off when they only got a generous $40 tip. Please craig listers, dont use this guy!!!

To the individual who posted about my service. Henry Moving...

It is obviously an attempt by another mover to tarnish my good image because of the number of customers I have been getting and the reputation of my service. It is a shame when we as movers try to sabotage the efforts of our fellow movers.

First of all, you did not even state any details like where I moved you to and/or from and what "piece of furniture" I moved. You did not even post Anon, as opposed to "No e-mail reply to."

Your post is fake, because I have had some generous tips, but in the history of my moving, no one has given me $40 in tips for moving a single piece of furniture. All my RECENT moves have been full apartments and 1 or 2 bedroom moves as opposed to single pieces of furniture. This is very much unlike you described.

Another reason why I am so sure you are making this up is that I have not moved anyone in the past few days, due to family obligations. So I am not quite sure when I allegedly moved you. If I did damage to your furniture, how come it took you so many days to report it? My last move has not been for a few days.

If you were so dissatisfied with your move, how come you did not express any dissatisfaction whatsoever after the job was done? Even if it is just to point out that we tarnished your "piece of furniture?"

Again, if I did such a poor moving job, why did you give me "a generous $40 tip?" That part beats me. I think you are contradicting yourself here.

I must be doing something really right if many of my movees keep calling me back. My service sells itself and even in one week when my computer was broken and I had no access to Craigslist, old customers kept calling me and still kept me busy. Some of my past movees have graciously offered to advertise my service on their company and university databases because they are so pleased with it.

So to the poster who posted this negative information about my service, all I have to say is that it is a shame that you have to resort to putting my service down. Putting my service down won't make yours look better or get you any more customers. What you should concentrate on is doing an excellent job when you have the business. We are all people trying to earn a living and there is no need for this backstabbing.

The fact that this sleazebag has ads posted with all 3 numbers and 2 different email addresses should be a red flag right off the bat. This guy is a compulsive liar. My girlfriend booked him for a move, and he never showed, and never called or picked up his phone. When she posted a complaint on Craigs List, he finally called her back to apologize and told her he had no excuse, he just flaked. when she didn't take the complaint down, he told her that his wife gave birth that day and he couldn't make it,and that if my girlfriend left the complaint up, he would contact her company, and report her. To try and "make it up to her' he told her that he would move anything she wanted for free,but knowing that she JUST moved,this was an empty promise. However, it gets much better..My girlfriend's brother was moving a few weeks later so we told Steve powers that he could make it up to us by moving her brother for free or a reduced price, and he gladly complied. When her brother called, Steve quoted him a rate of between $100 - $200 PER HOUR, when a reputable mover charges between $20 and $40 per hour. when her brother "called him out" on this scam, he quickly hung up and said he needed to call back.

Well, once again, similar to the experience my girlfriend had, Steve Powers disappeared until he got a threatening letter. He claimed he had the wrong # and had tried calling back at least 100 times, however, once he got an email that threatened to expose him on Craigs List (once again), he suddenly found the "right number." He threatened bodily harm if a complaint was posted on Craigs List, and that he knew the staff of my girlfriend's old building and would send people over to 'take care of things" if a complaint was posted.

After spending hours of time to move my girlfriend after this asshole never showed, and then having him threaten her brother, I felt that this jerk needed to be exposed, and hopefully, this will save anyone on Craigs List from having to deal with him in the future.

I hired a man with van to move some things from manhattan to brooklyn.

On the trip toward the destination address, while still in the truck, driving, he began to direct the conversation toward, in this order: pickup lines he uses on girls, his girlfriend who he lives with yet, has no idea what she does for a living, (I didn't question the incongruency of his having a girlfriend who he lives with and his proccupation with picking up girls, because I was SO NOT interested in his bizarre life) When I didn't join into his conversation, he stepped up the efforts to get the information from me that he wanted. Did I have a boyfriend or girlfriend? Then he talked about people including himself who go long periods without sex, and then he began to tell me about someone who told him about how she can't go for too long without sex. I finally stopped him and told him I thought this was highly inappropriate and that there is no reason for him discussing such things with me. I was being very diplomatic because I was in his vehicle and so was my stuff. His response was to make it seem like I was being a bitch for cutting off what in his mind was normal conversation. I just sat there, being really pissed. Not only at what he was trying to do, manipulate me into a conversation about my sex life, but then also manipulating me into feeling like I was wrong to put a stop to it. We managed to finish the moving job without further incident, mainly because I was not only not letting him manipulate me into his sorry-ass game, but I was also PISSED and he knew it. I had otherwise been very friendly and helpful until this part of the trip and now I was livid and silent. I had started out as the weaker of us two and was just helping him where I could, and at this point I was so pumped up with adrenaline that I was holding my end of the furniture with one arm, higher than my head.

It became clear to me that not only did he think that I could be so desperate that I would want to have sex with the moving man, but also, our original move time was 8:30 and he called and said he could do it earlier if I wanted to. So we started at 5:30, and I realized, after his pathetic propositioning, that he figured that with the extra time he might be able to get a little action in and still get home on time, and the girlfriend, who he felt "lucky" to have as he put it, wouldn't know the difference. When he left, not only did I not pay him, which he knew was absolutely correct of me, he actually offered to give me more. A very guilty, bizarre and disgusting LOSER. And I offer this warning in case he could be actually a threat to anyone.

I read the below complaint about a mover named Gene. I think this was taken way out of context. This woman sounds like ANY movers nightmare. (i speak from experience).

She was upset because a mover maid a pass at her...TOUGH!!! he was not only on time but early! she dont complain about his performance, therefore it can be assumed he did a reasonable job or even a great job. She gave no instance where he was aggressive. SHE EVEN STATED THAT SHE DIDNT PAY HIM AND THAT HE OFFERED HER CASH...I DONT BELIEVE THAT. what is moreSilly is that she "realized" that he wanted to have sex with her then go home to his girlfriend...thats why he offered to start the job early. I booked a move with Steve Powers, which proved to be a big mistake. He has several ads with different phone numbers and email addresses (SPOWERS3@nyc.rr.com, SAP11976@AOL.COM), so beware.

I confirmed with him twice and he had the nerve to not show up. He never called, wouldn't answer his cell phone and when I finally got through to him later that evening, his response was "Gee, sorry about that"! and hung up on me. Repeated phone calls resulted in more hang ups.

He left me with an entire apartment worth of furniture, sitting in my lobby with no way to move it. I incurred significant expense, embarassment and much aggravation as a result of his heinous act.

I contacted him for a last minute Sunday move and he agreed to meet me at 1:00pm At 1:15, when he didn't arrive, I paged him. No response.

I paged him 3 times before I received a call back at 2:00pm (an hour late). He said, without apology, that he was 50 blocks away but would be there.

I was in a bind so I agreed to wait. Thirty minutes later.. I paged him again. Another 30 minutes later I paged him again. I waited...and waited... And never heard from him.

On Friday I was promised a 16 foot truck for 10 Am on MOnday. The called several times, but were still not there by 12 noon, and when they finally did arrive it was with a small van that was full of splintered wood, drywall and cardboard. They didn't have a single dolly even though I had specified that we were moving 8 large boxes of 150 lbs. or more. It would have taken at least 5 trips to finish the job. When I complained to the dispatcher he suggested that the guys go and dump the garbage, pick up dollies and come back.. which would mean more than 2 more hours of waiting. I did not use them in the end. TERRIBLE MOVERS.

We just had a nightmare experience!

Joseph a "man with a van" who advertises here (phone # 646-294-7089) showed up an hour late for our move and when we asked for a discount for being an hour late with no notice, he proceeded to scream obscenities, threaten to "have us killed", and physically assaulted my husband. We had to call 911. Please use extreme caution before letting this guy into your home. Truly disturbing.

We all know about this guy who keeps reposting his ads and others respond saying what terrible service he has and so on. Well here is another one of his ads trying to get by craigs list blocking him. Its an ad that offers ikea pick up and delivery with a link to a website of his own...CHEAP IKEA DELIVERY @ IKEA-DELIVERY-ALTERNATIVE.COM - $66 please dont be fooled this is the same guy that craigslist has banned and hes trying to still use this forum to his own advantage, this guy is a piece of crap and has no consideration for anybody's time and can't even call you if hes not going to make his appointment. Waiting at Ikea for 4 hours after my appointment time is not the way to do business.

I agree with the complaint about Eric/Ric/Michael/Nate. I didn't realize there was a complaint about him, till he called and asked me if I had posted the listing. Well, I didn't post the earlier one but here is what happened to me:

I call Eric/Ric/Michael and make an appointment for 11.00am Sat. I arrange with some friends who are kind enough to spend their Sat helping me move. 1.30pm rolls along and Eric/Ric/Michael/Nate never comes. I keep calling his home, he has not bothered to call me. Finally I get a hold of him, and he says that he had gone to do another job and that he will be there in an hour.

Anyways I keep waiting till 3.00pm calling every now and then - where his wife informs me that he is on his way (the man has no cell phone). Finally when I keep calling, his wife informs me that his van broke down.

Let me say that NEVER did I get even ONE call from him - I had to keep calling. I didn't get an apology, no call, nothing - he said that he couldn't make any calls because I had a LA number. What is funny is that as soon as the first complaint about him came up, he called to ask if I had posted it (I wonder why he was not concerned about long distance bills then!) Anyways, to make a long story short - I wasted my day, time, my friend's time on this man!!!!

I was not planning on compalining, but now that he and his wife keep calling asking me if I posted something - I thought might as well, its not the first time its happening if there is another complaint - I just want people to be aware.

Even if you do try to call him, it's impossible to reach him when you need it because you're just calling his family at home, who have no clue where he is.

HE THEN PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME THAT HE WAS GOING TO UNLOAD MY STUFF RIGHT THERE ON THE SIDEWALK AND HE EXPECTED ME TO PAY HIM $60. I REALIZED AT THAT POINT THERE WAS NO REASONING WITH THIS PERSON, SO I KEPT MY MOUTH SHUT AND WATCHED HIM UNLOAD IT. AFTER IT WAS ALL UNLOADED, HE TURNED TO ME AND SAID, "GIVE ME THE $60" I SAID "NO WAY AM I GIVING YOU ANYTHING, YOU DIDNT FINISH THE JOB. I WILL GIVE YOU THE WHOLE AMOUNT IF YOU FINISH THE JOB.
